New skates for Christmas or your Birthday ???

Have you just been given rollerskates and would like to learn how to use them ?  Then come along to our club session on Saturdays at 3.30-5.00pm at Woodlands Primary School Sports Centre. The club also has skates for hire if you do not have your own . Bring a friend .

 

 

Medway Roller Dance and Social Club was established in 1949, and continues to flourish. Our public session at Woodlands Primary School Sports Centre are aimed at all newcommers to skating.

 The session includes some general skating sessions, games with prizes, roller dances and some optional coaching of basic roller skating skills, leading to Federation of Artistic Roller Skating (FARS) Basic Grades 1 to 6. The session provides fun for all. Refreshments are available.

Lessons in Roller Dance Figure and Free Skating lessons are available for Beginners, Intermediate ability and Advanced Skaters. The Club has enthusiastic and patient coaches, who hold FARS Coaching Qualifications and include past International skaters.  Club members have opportunities to take part in competitions held within the club as well as National and if selected international competitions. Several members have been chosen to skate in the British Artistic Rollerskating team

 

The Club is well known for its stunning display skating and groups of skaters have performed in local public events e.g. Dickens Festival and also on television. Club members have performed live on Blue Peter three times.
Club members perform Pantomimes on Roller Skates . In 2003 and 2004 the club has staged shows at Mote Park Leisure Centre, Maidstone. Anyone skating with the Club is invited to take part regardless of age and ability level. The pantomime stories are told in a series of solo or formation skating routines and the end result is spectacular.

The social side of the Club is considered to be very important and members of all ages have enjoyed theatre trips and meals out. The regular barbeques are very popular events and the scarey Halloween Ghost hunt is eagerly anticipated by all.
